Once I received correct parts ... ... Review by Jim B.

Assembly is no easy task. I dug a 40" deep hole to be well below the NY frost line. Filled with blocks and concrete as instructed and let it set for 4 days. Began assembly of adjusting arm and piston and found the last mounting hole on handle would not reach the mounting hole on pole. It was as if the piston were overextended. The problem occurred on Saturday morning of Memorial day weekend leaving me unable to finish assembly for the weekend. On Tuesday, I contacted customer service and they immediately told me that the handle was likely too short and the wrong part for the model I had. Sounds as though they were well aware of the packaging problem and had already run into this before. They told me 10-14 days before I would get a new part. After complaining a little they agreed to expedite shipping. I received new part in 7 or 8 days. New part fixed the issue. he handle should be a black matte finish that matches the pole. If you have a glossy finish on the handle, different than the pole and it wont reach the mounting hole, you have the wrong handle. We had 3 men and a flatbed pickup truck for assembly. Although, cumbersome, it wasn't too bad. Hanging the backboard took around 30-45 minutes. I would not try hanging this without 3 men and definitely would not try on ladders. That is an accident waiting to happen. The backboard and pole have a little more play than I would like but overall is a nice system. I was worried after install that the backboard moved pretty easily when I pushed on it but it moves much less from the force of a basketball. the backboard raises and lowers like butter. My 10 and 12 year old girls can adjust the height with little effort. This is a nice system for the money and I am pleased with the outcome but it turned into a 2 week project due to the poor packaging from the factory and I missed the use of this for a family party, disappointing my kids. Hope this helps others. (Posted on 6/8/2014)
Once up, a great product! Review by

The salesperson talked me into this model and I'm very happy with my choice. The shipping was quick. I purchased the ground sleeve and installed the pole without any difficulty. We had a lot of problems with the gas spring (the part that raises/lowers the backboard). It overextended when we released it (step 1 of the directions). We called Lifetime and they sent us a new one 2 weeks later (it was back ordered). When releasing the 2nd gas spring, it overextended, as well. We called Lifetime again and spoke with one of their engineers and he talked us through how to compress it back in, not easy, had to use lots of pressure and straps. The backboard was heavy and hard to bolt on to the pole while holding it up. I would definitely recommend hiring someone to assemble if you aren't very handy or wont have lots of helpers when it comes time to raise it! Kids have played on it for a week and it seems like a great product! (Posted on 6/5/2013)
Nice Hoop. Review by

I have had the hoop up for about two months and am happy with it. It is a little challenging to assemble, but not impossible. It took two adults to set the pole and three strong adults to hang the backboard. It is one of the few models in this price range that have a one piece pole, which is what I wanted. Seems pretty sturdy and the glass backboard gives better bounces. My kids and I are enjoying it. Ordering and delivery went well. The value compared to other models I looked at is very good. I am very satisfied so far. (Posted on 10/27/2012)
Great Product Review by TTPS

Kids love this system and adults love how easy it is to change height. Very stable and great value for a one piece pole compared to other systems on the market. We bought a ground sleeve and it made the pole installation a lot easier. Installation is moderately difficult -take your time looking at the pictures before each step. My only complaint was # labels on hardware bags did not match directions in all locations. However, each step had pictures of hardware and a key at the front to sort out the right piece. Plan on two people for concrete portion and a minimum of three strong adults to mount the backboard. (At least two to hold and one to bolt) (Posted on 5/26/2012)
Good value Review by Grandpa

I bought this model for my grandson, who recently started playing competitively as a freshman in high school. His dad installed it per the instructions and got a good result. The hoop is very friendly, the glass board has a better bounce than plastic, and the pole is more heavy duty than the local big box store models. The in ground sleeve is a great accessory. All in all, my grandson is happy, my son is happy and I'm happy with it! (Posted on 5/18/2012)
Great Goal Review by Jen

Great goal! Looks great and easy to adjust height, it does take a little work to get together and at least 3 people to attach to pole(just a couple errors on our part made it take longer, but not too bad. We used a ladder on 1 side and tailgate on other. Best price and great customer service! (Posted on 4/12/2012)
Practicing Review by LC

Hello: The shipping was fast and it came in in very good shape. do not know how you can afford to ship it free on a truck. Worked for us. It is up and being used. We put it up for our grandson and he loves it. Us too. It is quite stable. We did not put in the ground. We cut off 16" and put a half inch thick 8" square base on it and bolted it to my cement driveway. It is next to my shop and we put a couple extra braces to the shop. The directions were a little hard to follow, but we figured it all out. Glad we decided to get the glass. Its worth it. Thank You Lonnie (Posted on 4/3/2012)

Nice system Review by Bert

Nice system, once installed. Kids and neighborhood kids are playing every day. Installation was time consuming - directions vague and wrong in places. Bold coatings are too thick - too much interference when threading on nuts. Final step of bolting backboard to pole took lots of muscle power. (Posted on 8/27/2011)
Lifetime In-Ground Basket Ball System Review by Biffdog

Start off, once its together, its a fairly sturdy impressive looking system. But, I have years of mechanical experience and I had a bear of a time assembling it and especially mounting the partly assembled backboard (that you put together prior to hanging it), to the pole that I concreted in the ground on the first step. The pre-drilled holes for some of the hardware is so ridiculously tight, the average home owner would more than likely be too frustrated to complete. Second, trying to hang the backboard took my tailgate of my truck, (there is no way you could have used just a ladder), my body builder neighbor and his 18 year old son to jockey it (with great difficulty), into position, while I struggled to get the mounting bolts in. It was NUTS on the amount of labor and effort necessary. I would definitely look for a different company that puts more time into home owner installation considerations. (Posted on 5/3/2011)
