This system is a basic replacement backboard. There are some important features and possible upgrades to take note of. First, this system features the Slam-It Rim that uses a double-spring-back action mechanism. The upgrade from this would be a model with a Slam-It Pro Rim, which is the official Lifetime Products breakaway rim. Second, this model features a polyethylene plastic frame for the backboard. An upgrade from this would be a steel frame, which many other systems do have. The steel provides a more rigid feel to the backboard so the basketball will rebound better off the backboard.
Important Information to Take Note of For Use of This Backboard as a Replacement.
Every manufacturer of basketball replacement backboards has their own set of features and specs. In our experience, backboards from different manufacturers are not compatible. So, for this system as a replacement for existing system, your existing system must be made by Lifetime Products. Next, within the Lifetime Products basketball line, they offer many different goal systems, each with different specs. So, for this model, your pole must be 3.5 inches in diameter and must be round. To make sure the mounting brackets are compatible, your basketball system must have Lifetime's "Y-shaped" bracket that attaches to the backboard. If these things check out, this backboard system should work fine with your existing Lifetime basketball goal.
